Wild Britain Exhibition

I packaged and posted 5 pieces for the Wild Britain exhibition at the Jam Factory, Oxford today. It has been organised by Clare Eguchi from the Tube Gallery. Clare found me through my etsy shop and I'm delighted to be showing my work next to such a varied and accomplished collection of artists, all inspired by wildlife. Please follow the links to for more info. I had been planning on driving down to deliver the work and attend the opening but unfortunately I have too much work to catch up on. On to the next deadline.....

I thought I was done but now I've photographed it I can see a couple of adjustments that I should make.

So back to the studio once again,

Painting update...

Just a short progress report on the butterfly paintings.

 Top image is last night and the next one is earlier this afternoon. 

It's not going exactly as planned,  but slow progress is being made.

I was hoping to get them finished today, mmmm,

 but will probably be tomorrow as my concentration level is lacking somewhat.

Funny how sometimes work flows and other times it's a struggle.

Ah well, back to the studio now. 

WINTER HARES

I have finally got down to doing some new pieces for etsy

and thought it might be nice to do some ACEOs.

I've been meaning to draw more hares
 and spied some mountain hares at the weekend while hill walking.

They don various shades of grey & brown and turn white for winter

Some of them are half way to turning white
 and others are already there.

We sometimes call them blue hares-
 for the beautiful shades of their coats.

I've done a series of four at different stages of their winter change,

I took some photos of the process....

I'm working on a very smooth watercolour paper

Step1- a quick pencil sketch

Step2- drawing with a dip pen in Indian ink,

 mistakes still optional!

Step 3-Add light washes of acrylic ink, small changes can still be made and final details picked out with the dip pen.  

The finished article!.
