About Me

My photo
I'm a nature obsessed artist who lives in an little house in a little vilage in the Highlands of Scotland.I wander around a lot in the wilds and spend time just looking at things like birds and moths and trees and rocks. The rest of the time I'm drawing or painting, making odd things out of old stuff and drinking giant cups of peppermint tea. Imogen Greene is my pen name. I like the way it sounds and it just kind of suits what I do.

Something new

A new drawing , specimen birds under glass domes. I've started to work on deconstructed book covers, I love all the stains and marks on them and now I've add a few of my own. I think I'll keep this one on my studio wall for a while, sometimes a simple drawing gives me ideas for a whole new line of work.

Milder.

I met this sleepy fellow yesterday. It's too early for them to be out and about but the recent mild weather has woken them up from slumber. I hope he finds a cosy rock to crawl under when it turns cold again. I saw lots of interesting things on the walk, a flock of long tailed tits, a flock of bullfinches, a red squirrel, a crested tit and a puff of feathers ( unfortunate pheasant I think), some of which I will draw for Imogen's Attic. I spent more time looking up at the trees than on the path, lucky for toad I spotted him in time or it could have been messy.

Some pieces from my favourite makers on etsy.
This week has been very unproductive and frustrating, sometimes the work doesn't come easy!
I'm hoping next week will be better.

Happy first birthday blog!

Dear readers,

I realised today that I had missed the first birthday of this blog and my etsy shop, how remiss of me! I decided to give both a facelift to mark the occassion and if you are eagle eyed you will also have spotted that I have been writing under my pen name of Imogen Greene (Imogen being my favourite name, and Greene, well it just sounds "right"). I adopted a new name for my on line art as it is quite different in style to the work I make under my given name, Jenny McLaren. Recently I read a post on etsy about "transparency" and I decided that even though it is just a different name - all the events, thoughts and ramblings and of course the work on my blog are real and mine to share- I thought I should just let you all know........................
Please feel free to share your thoughts, I value your feedback.

                              Yours truly

                                     Imogen ( aka Jenny)

Etsy conversations

I've just had a lovely conversation on Etsy with Georgianne Holland of Nestle and Soar, she included my chaffinch painting in her Top Ten blog. How lovely! I still find it truly amazing to be able to make connections with other artists who live half way round the world with just a couple of taps on the keyboard. Please click on the links to see Georgianne's shop and check out her blog.
