About Me

My photo
I'm a nature obsessed artist who lives in an little house in a little vilage in the Highlands of Scotland.I wander around a lot in the wilds and spend time just looking at things like birds and moths and trees and rocks. The rest of the time I'm drawing or painting, making odd things out of old stuff and drinking giant cups of peppermint tea. Imogen Greene is my pen name. I like the way it sounds and it just kind of suits what I do.

West Coast, Part Two

The beach

Young starling sound asleep

Ringed Plover

Sea hare (Aplysia punctata )

We saw a couple of these sea hares when we were canoeing on Loch Ewe. Being in the canoe is a great way to travel and see all the sea life that is usually hidden from view. The water is so clear and it's kind of mesmerising to be looking into several feet of that secret aquatic world. I'm already planning our next trip.

Awesome photographs. It sounds like a great trip. I like that the sheep are hanging out so close to the shore.

Thanks Amber. The sheep would sometimes clamber onto the rocks at low tide, I think they nibble at the exposed seaweed. They are quite disdainful of cars and humans, moving off in their own sweet time. Scottish West Coast sheep have a certain air of nobility about them which is quite at odds with their stupidity. They would make a great subject in one of your short stories:)

You are right, they would make a perfect subject! I love your description. It makes me want to visit the shores of Scotland someday to see the beach sheep.
